Burton Albion 2-1 Middlesbrough
Two late Shaun Harrad goals saw Middlesbrough sensationally dumped out of the FA Cup at the hands of League Two strugglers Burton Albion.
A defensive lapse allowed Brewers striker Harrad to fire home the winner deep into stoppage time. A sense of deja vu for Boro fans; this the third time in less than a month that their side have thrown away leads in time added on.
The Championship side dominated with Kris Boyd testing Albion keeper Adam Legzdins before heading narrowly wide. Tony McMahon also threatened, his effort hitting the crossbar.
After a …

Cash-strapped Portsmouth heaped yet more misery on Gordon Strachan’s Middlesbrough side, coming from two goals behind to grab a late draw at The Riverside.
Boro took a comfortable 2-0 lead into the break but once again failed to hold on to it courtesy of a David Nugent Header and a controversial late penalty from Liam Lawrence.
Both sides began the afternoon lingering dangerously above the relegation zone and little was to change after the final whistle, with the league’s pre season favourites left 15 points adrift of leaders QPR.
Gordon Strachan made four changes to the Boro …

Middlesbrough’s nightmare season was summed up in a lifeless 1-1 draw against an average Coventry City side in their final home game of the campaign. A flat atmosphere and weakened sides suggested that this game was to be a dead rubber and the outcome was just that; it seems that the end of the season can’t come quick enough for Boro, as they look to reshuffle the pack for their first full season under Gordon Strachan in an attempt to return to the top flight.
Not even drastic ticket price cuts were enough to draw in the home …

It’s been a rollercoaster ride of a season for Middlesbrough and from a Boro point of view; it’s fair to say that it’s had more downs than ups. With four games to go it seems the players and fans have long accepted that the Riverside Stadium will be hosting Championship football next season.
The season began with high hopes of returning to the top tier of English football at the first attempt. Although many of the clubs’ big stars, including – Downing, Huth, Tuncay and Alves were sold, the squad looked in good shape …

Newcastle remain clear at the top of the Championship after a late Andy Carroll strike salvaged a point to deny Middlesbrough a derby-day triumph over their bitter North-East rivals, in front of a crowd of over 27,000.
The pulsating Tyne-Tees derby failed to disappoint from start to finish, with both sides feeling they deserved more than a point from a 2-2 draw at the final whistle. The game began at a fast pace, with the home side feeling they should have been awarded a penalty inside the first minute, after Scott McDonald appeared …

And so tomorrow The Posh come to town, a team languishing at the bottom of the Division and, if we’re honest, that doesn’t look like changing. Many people will be saying this is exactly the sort of team we should be able to win but this is Boro, we never do it the easy way. Chances are we’ll come out the blocks fast like we did against Barnsley, knick a couple of goals and then give the lead away. Or will we? Strachan has installed a new sense of strength …

Gordon Strachan used the January transfer window to good effect, seven new players joined the ranks of the mighty Boro and so far, everything seems to be falling into place. Chris Killen, Lee Miller, Scot McDonald, Barry Robson, Stephen McManus, Willo Flood and Kyle Naughton have all joined us this window and apparently (So Mr S Gibson himself has said) and eight player is soon to join.
Now, people say we are the new Celtic but lets be honest, better the devil you know than the devil you don’t. The fact …
